Company Project - Birdnote Limited

In 2021 during his second year of study at university Ben launched his first ever company in his entrepreneurial journey. The company comes from humble beginnings but holds the potential for great achievements in the near future.

Birdnote Limited is an audio production and sales company, primarily focussed on the creation and trade of full compositions used most often for YouTube channel owners. These compositions enable creators to publish original content without the hassle of having to create their own, which is often a requirement on platforms like YouTube in order to monetise a video or upload.

The birth of this venture meant the requirement of a business name. Often distracted by a friendly Tui bird that sang by his window when he was working, Ben took inspiration from this and chose to establish the company name as "Birdnote Limited" to show his admiration of the beautiful melodies sung by the native songbird of which would sometimes influence his music production. He also gave credit to the national heritage of the business by including New Zealand's national bird - a Kiwi, in the company logo. This is a common identifier of New Zealand businesses and promotes a sense of localism within the industry.

In terms of future expansion of Birdnote Limited, Ben holds many ideas on how to develop and scale the model and practice of the company. Ben has determined that his current business model is only scalable to a certain degree and would like to implement other avenues of work. Ben would like to offer services in the company, such as AV show management (lighting and sound), tutoring/apprenticeships and contractable jobs like voiceover, sync and film/TV music composition and even jingle or ringtone creation. These are all things that will likely be researched and tested during the company's development period in 2023.
